Investing.com – Russia equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX rose 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS), which rose 4.38% or 3.880 points to trade at 92.480 at the close. Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) added 3.20% or 0.920 points to end at 29.700 and Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) was up 2.63% or 0.0845 points to 3.2985 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p), which lost 6.70% or 120.0 points to trade at 1670.0 in late trade. United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) declined 3.38% or 0.810 points to end at 23.190 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) shed 2.92% or 20.50 points to 682.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 116 to 105 and 29 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 4.33% to 26.750.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 1.01% or 12.75 to $1255.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.04% or 0.52 to hit $50.35 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.20% or 0.62 to trade at $52.48 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.44% to 62.1472, while EUR/RUB fell 0.77% to 69.352.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 96.56.
