Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Construction, Basic Resources and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.21%, while the MDAX index gained 0.77%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which rose 2.43% or 0.560 points to trade at 23.610 at the close. Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) added 1.66% or 1.460 points to end at 89.270 and Volkswagen AG VZO O.N. (DE:VOWG_p) was up 1.54% or 2.150 points to 142.150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which lost 2.36% or 0.179 points to trade at 7.421 in late trade. Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) declined 1.54% or 1.310 points to end at 83.490 and Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) shed 1.11% or 0.200 points to 17.800.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 3.55% to 4.95, Hugo Boss AG NA O.N. (DE:BOSSn) which was up 2.82% to settle at 59.100 and Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which gained 2.58% to close at 36.750.
The worst performers were Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which was down 0.89% to 57.800 in late trade, GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which lost 0.71% to settle at 39.350 and Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which was down 0.63% to 31.405 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Evotec AG O.N. (DE:EVTG) which rose 7.38% to 7.379, RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was up 6.29% to settle at 13.105 and Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which gained 3.12% to close at 8.899.
The worst performers were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which was down 1.11% to 8.806 in late trade, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which lost 0.75% to settle at 47.440 and Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 0.67% to 41.350 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 474 to 262 and 22 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 3.14% to 14.78.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.12% or 1.45 to $1235.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.02% or 1.07 to hit $54.07 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.12% or 1.18 to trade at $56.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.0646, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.8517.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 100.66.
