Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Telecoms & IT and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.94% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Amadeus IT (MC:AMA), which rose 2.72% or 1.680 points to trade at 63.500 at the close. Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) added 2.67% or 0.256 points to end at 9.830 and Melia Hotels (MC:MEL) was up 2.16% or 0.250 points to 11.820 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS), which lost 0.92% or 0.265 points to trade at 28.390 in late trade. Endesa (MC:ELE) declined 0.08% or 0.015 points to end at 18.290 and Abertis Infr (MC:ABE) shed 0.05% or 0.010 points to 18.680.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 122 to 51 and 21 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.02% or 0.30 to $1321.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.97% or 0.60 to hit $61.41 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.60% or 0.41 to trade at $67.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.19% to 1.2044, while EUR/GBP fell 0.33% to 0.8878.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 91.69.
