Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 1.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA), which rose 2.45% or 0.063 points to trade at 2.631 at the close. Mapfre (MC:MAP) added 2.22% or 0.057 points to end at 2.626 and Telefonica (MC:TEF) was up 2.18% or 0.158 points to 7.405 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL), which lost 0.85% or 0.10 points to trade at 12.29 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS) declined 0.55% or 0.135 points to end at 24.500 and Acciona (MC:ANA) shed 0.17% or 0.120 points to 70.520.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 117 to 58 and 25 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.07% or 13.30 to $1255.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.11% or 0.08 to hit $73.86 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.02 to trade at $77.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.05% to 1.1645, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8845.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 94.44.
