Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Plantations and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share gained 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which rose 25.00% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.5000 at the close. Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS) added 20.00% or 0.100 points to end at 0.600 and Beruwala Resorts PLC (CM:BERU) was up 16.67% or 0.100 points to 0.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EB Creasy and Company PLC (CM:EBCR), which lost 21.23% or 296.40 points to trade at 1100.00 in late trade. Serendib Hotels PLC (CM:SHOT) declined 14.11% or 2.30 points to end at 14.00 and Colonial Motors PLC (CM:COLO) shed 13.59% or 6.70 points to 42.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 103 to 59 and 41 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.07% or 0.05 to $75.28 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.15% or 0.13 to hit $84.93 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.03% or 0.40 to trade at $1207.40 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was up 0.22% to 220.325, while USD/LKR rose 0.17% to 169.610.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 95.09.
