Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Construction & Engineering, Footwear & Textile and Trading sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Adam Investments Ltd (CM:ADAM), which rose 50.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.300 at the close. PCH Holdings PLC (CM:PCHH) added 16.67% or 0.100 points to end at 0.700 and Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) was up 12.50% or 0.100 points to 0.900 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Samson International PLC (CM:SIL), which lost 12.79% or 12.50 points to trade at 85.20 in late trade. Beruwala Resorts PLC (CM:BERU) declined 12.50% or 0.100 points to end at 0.700 and Office Equipment PLC (CM:OFEQ) shed 11.55% or 8.50 points to 65.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 84 to 71 and 59 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.52% or 0.35 to $66.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.42% or 0.30 to hit $71.86 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.37% or 4.50 to trade at $1222.80 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.95% to 208.425, while USD/LKR rose 0.03% to 159.940.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 95.07.
