Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals, Healthcare and Footwear & Textile sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share rose 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Lankem Ceylon PLC (CM:LCEY), which rose 10.34% or 8.90 points to trade at 95.00 at the close. Hunas Falls Hotels PLC (CM:HUNA) added 10.27% or 5.40 points to end at 58.00 and C W Mackie PLC (CM:CWM) was up 9.93% or 5.60 points to 62.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kalamazoo Systems PLC (CM:KZOO), which lost 22.88% or 594.80 points to trade at 2005.30 in late trade. Muller & Phipps PLC (CM:MULL) declined 13.33% or 0.20 points to end at 1.30 and SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) shed 11.11% or 0.10 points to 0.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 118 to 79 and 49 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 0.27% or 0.13 to $48.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $49.30 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.20% or 2.60 to trade at $1274.30 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.08% to 211.930, while USD/LKR rose 0.08% to 146.600.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.33% at 94.86.
