Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6), which rose 4.00% or 1.00 points to trade at 26.00 at the close. Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4) added 2.97% or 1.89 points to end at 65.62 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was up 2.84% or 0.82 points to 29.71 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3), which lost 4.09% or 0.65 points to trade at 15.25 in late trade. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) declined 4.08% or 0.77 points to end at 18.11 and Ultrapar Participacoes SA (SA:UGPA3) shed 0.59% or 0.45 points to 76.15.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 211 to 144 and 35 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.42% to 29.80.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.28% or 3.37 to $1213.07 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.57% or 0.25 to hit $44.48 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.03% or 0.04 to trade at $128.88 .
USD/BRL was down 0.64% to 3.2594, while EUR/BRL fell 0.64% to 3.7156.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 95.81.
