Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Information Services, Cement and Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.41% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Cyberlink Co (TW:5203), which rose 9.90% or 6.60 points to trade at 73.30 at the close. Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519) added 9.79% or 1.15 points to end at 12.90 and Hotel Holiday Garden (TW:2702) was up 9.67% or 2.95 points to 33.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gigabyte Technology Co Ltd (TW:2376), which lost 4.37% or 2.90 points to trade at 63.40 in late trade. Adimmune Corp (TW:4142) declined 3.93% or 0.80 points to end at 19.55 and United Microelectronics Corporation (TW:2303) shed 3.85% or 0.70 points to 17.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 530 to 264 and 119 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.03% or 0.02 to $69.28 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.47% or 0.35 to hit $74.28 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.23% or 2.80 to trade at $1229.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.28% to 30.559, while TWD/CNY rose 0.18% to 0.2226.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 93.97.
