Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Semiconductor and Cement sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.82%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Episil-Precision Inc (TW:3016), which rose 9.95% or 3.70 points to trade at 40.90 at the close. Kinsus Interconnect Technology Corp (TW:3189) added 9.94% or 5.00 points to end at 55.30 and Ritek Corp (TW:2349) was up 9.93% or 0.560 points to 6.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Century Iron And Steel Industrial Co Ltd (TW:9958), which lost 10.00% or 5.20 points to trade at 46.80 in late trade. Chuwa Wool Industry Co Taiwan Ltd (TW:1439) declined 10.00% or 5.00 points to end at 45.00 and Swancor Holding Co Ltd (TW:3708) shed 8.96% or 9.50 points to 96.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 484 to 296 and 129 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.72% or 0.51 to $70.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.64% or 0.49 to hit $75.68 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1314.20 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.28% to 29.744, while TWD/CNY fell 0.09% to 0.2134.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 92.57.
