Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Semiconductor, Electronic Parts/Components and Electronics sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 1.00% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Biostar Microtech International Corp (TW:2399), which rose 9.92% or 1.30 points to trade at 14.40 at the close. Genesis Photonics Inc (TW:3383) added 9.65% or 0.25 points to end at 2.84 and Darfon Electronics Corp (TW:8163) was up 9.12% or 4.90 points to 58.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tsang Yow Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1568), which lost 5.96% or 1.40 points to trade at 22.10 in late trade. Kaulin Mfg (TW:1531) declined 4.15% or 0.80 points to end at 18.50 and Sun Race Sturmey-Archer Inc (TW:1526) shed 3.97% or 1.40 points to 33.85.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 438 to 331 and 148 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.16% or 0.11 to $68.42 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.29% or 0.22 to hit $76.07 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.54% or 6.50 to trade at $1207.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.07% to 30.718, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2219.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 94.77.
