Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Machinery, Electronic Parts/Components and Other sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 1.01% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413), which rose 9.91% or 2.25 points to trade at 24.95 at the close. WUS Printed Circuit Co Ltd (TW:2316) added 9.90% or 1.45 points to end at 16.10 and Global PMX Co Ltd (TW:4551) was up 9.66% or 11.50 points to 130.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which lost 6.21% or 0.95 points to trade at 14.35 in late trade. Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512) declined 3.60% or 0.30 points to end at 8.03 and Favite Inc (TW:3535) shed 2.96% or 0.50 points to 16.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 550 to 271 and 98 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.45% or 0.73 to $51.24 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.44% or 0.85 to hit $59.84 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.07% or 0.95 to trade at $1290.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.03% to 30.827, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2192.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 95.190.
