Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Trading & Consumer Goods and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Gintech Energy Corp (TW:3514), which rose 10.00% or 1.65 points to trade at 18.15 at the close. Teapo Electronic Corp (TW:2375) added 10.00% or 3.60 points to end at 39.60 and Yonyu Plastics Co Ltd (TW:1323) was up 10.00% or 3.55 points to 39.05 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475), which lost 9.91% or 9.90 points to trade at 90.00 in late trade. Epistar Corp (TW:2448) declined 7.25% or 3.45 points to end at 44.15 and Supreme Electronics Co Ltd (TW:8112) shed 5.78% or 1.75 points to 28.55.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 423 to 330 and 129 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $58.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.09% or 0.06 to hit $64.50 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.06% or 0.80 to trade at $1268.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.07% to 29.972, while TWD/CNY fell 0.18% to 0.2196.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 93.00.
