Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, IT and Clean Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite lost 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Celestica Inc. (TSX:CLS), which rose 7.28% or 0.85 points to trade at 12.52 at the close. SilverCrest Metals Inc (TSX:SIL) added 5.82% or 0.59 points to end at 10.73 and Equitable Group Inc. (TSX:EQB) was up 4.61% or 3.50 points to 79.44 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BRP Inc (TSX:DOO), which lost 8.30% or 9.68 points to trade at 106.94 in late trade. Capstone Mining Corp (TSX:CS) declined 5.20% or 0.30 points to end at 5.47 and First Quantum Minerals Ltd . (TSX:FM) shed 4.11% or 1.26 points to 29.48.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 604 to 418 and 111 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.63% or 11.45 to $1795.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.01% or 0.85 to hit $84.61 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.55% or 0.47 to trade at $85.64 a barrel.
CAD/USD was down 0.03% to 0.8073, while CAD/EUR rose 0.07% to 0.6961.
US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 93.938.
