Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 5.87% or 6.14 points to trade at 110.68 at the close. Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) added 4.66% or 144.0 points to end at 3234.0 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) was up 4.35% or 7.42 points to 178.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which lost 5.04% or 173.5 points to trade at 3270.5 in late trade. Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) declined 4.21% or 265.0 points to end at 6027.0 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) shed 3.80% or 90.00 points to 2280.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1223 to 973 and 228 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.40% or 7.25 to $1807.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.28% or 0.87 to hit $69.02 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.17% or 0.82 to trade at $71.20 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.32% to 1.3930, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.8500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 92.227.
