Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Electronic & Electrical Equipment, Mining and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 3.04% or 55.50 points to trade at 1884.00 at the close. Halma PLC (LON:HLMA) added 2.01% or 52.0 points to end at 2640.0 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) was up 1.91% or 250.0 points to 13310.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 2.63% or 25.20 points to trade at 934.00 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 2.15% or 2.36 points to end at 107.32 and Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) shed 2.00% or 47.0 points to 2299.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1211 to 977 and 250 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.07% or 20.05 to $1893.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.73% or 0.50 to hit $69.31 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.39% or 0.28 to trade at $71.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.50% to 1.4174, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8589.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.46% at 90.088.
