Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the General Retailers, Oil & Gas Producers and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.74%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Just Eat (LON:JE), which rose 24.19% or 142.60 points to trade at 732.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 3.34% or 21.00 points to end at 650.00 and St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP) was up 3.16% or 32.00 points to 1045.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 7.10% or 75.70 points to trade at 990.80 in late trade. Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL) declined 2.75% or 55.00 points to end at 1943.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) shed 1.99% or 17.40 points to 857.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1124 to 988 and 188 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.07% or 1.05 to $1487.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.18% or 0.63 to hit $54.14 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.42 to trade at $59.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.12% to 1.2942, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.8607.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 97.132.
