Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Industrial Transportation and Life Insurance/Assurance sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.97%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NK Rosneft PAO DRC (LON:ROSNq), which rose 6.59% or 0.55 points to trade at 8.96 at the close. Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) added 5.02% or 0.95 points to end at 19.97 and Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq) was up 4.53% or 0.062 points to 1.430 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which lost 2.85% or 68.00 points to trade at 2316.00 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 1.92% or 6.40 points to end at 326.80 and Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT) shed 1.50% or 85.0 points to 5571.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1081 to 927 and 422 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.50% or 8.75 to $1758.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.67% or 1.30 to hit $78.92 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.62% or 1.32 to trade at $82.58 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.20% to 1.3640, while EUR/GBP fell 0.30% to 0.8510.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 93.888.
