Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Food Producers, General Retailers and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 9.27% or 91.53 points to trade at 1079.13 at the close. London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG) added 4.24% or 368.0 points to end at 9054.0 and Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) was up 3.78% or 80.0 points to 2197.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV), which lost 4.86% or 83.00 points to trade at 1625.50 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 3.88% or 13.70 points to end at 339.30 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (LON:RDSa) shed 1.96% or 26.30 points to 1314.81.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1348 to 985 and 86 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.82% or 15.25 to $1865.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.92% or 0.48 to hit $52.68 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.04% or 0.57 to trade at $55.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.25% to 1.3664, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8838.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 90.927.
