Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Aerospace & Defense and Industrial Engineering sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 7.03% or 10.20 points to trade at 155.20 at the close. Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) added 4.56% or 56.00 points to end at 1,284.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 4.51% or 21.80 points to 505.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which lost 1.45% or 10.80 points to trade at 736.60 in late trade. National Grid PLC (LON:NG) declined 0.47% or 5.00 points to end at 1,059.00 and Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) shed 0.47% or 9.00 points to 1,911.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1246 to 613 and 398 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.18% or 3.45 to $1,913.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 4.08% or 3.05 to hit $71.75 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 3.74% or 3.02 to trade at $77.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.22, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.22% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 103.22.
