Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Financial Services and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were St. James’s Place PLC (LON:SJP), which rose 3.91% or 46.50 points to trade at 1,235.00 at the close. 3I Group PLC (LON:III) added 3.69% or 43.50 points to end at 1,221.50 and Abrdn PLC (LON:ABDN) was up 3.69% or 6.60 points to 185.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 3.68% or 7.70 points to trade at 201.50 in late trade. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) declined 3.03% or 23.00 points to end at 737.00 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) shed 2.96% or 29.80 points to 976.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1192 to 623 and 488 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.08% or 1.55 to $1,839.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.53% or 0.58 to hit $109.31 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.57% or 0.64 to trade at $111.40 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.10% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.41% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 103.13.
