Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Automobiles & Parts and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP), which rose 4.73% or 66.00 points to trade at 1,462.00 at the close. Aviva PLC (LON:AV) added 4.15% or 17.10 points to end at 429.20 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was up 4.13% or 5.00 points to 126.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK), which lost 3.94% or 193.00 points to trade at 4,706.00 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 2.53% or 5.10 points to end at 196.40 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) shed 2.40% or 23.40 points to 952.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1230 to 606 and 446 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.28% or 5.23 to $1,847.33 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.28% or 0.31 to hit $109.97 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.15% or 0.16 to trade at $110.15 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.63% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.48% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.92% at 102.23.
