Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Media, Real Estate and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 4.43% or 6.65 points to trade at 156.65 at the close. CRH PLC (LON:CRH) added 3.03% or 89.0 points to end at 3025.0 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 2.75% or 4.54 points to 169.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 3.33% or 18.00 points to trade at 523.40 in late trade. Relx PLC (LON:REL) declined 2.95% or 51.00 points to end at 1676.00 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 2.74% or 8.60 points to 305.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1154 to 1050 and 149 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.03% or 19.65 to $1889.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.07% or 0.84 to hit $39.83 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.85% or 0.79 to trade at $41.86 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.31% to 1.2916, while EUR/GBP rose 0.04% to 0.9112.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 93.653.
