Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Mining and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were CRH PLC (LON:CRH), which rose 3.92% or 148.0 points to trade at 3921.0 at the close. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) added 1.63% or 1.90 points to end at 118.35 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) was up 0.88% or 18.00 points to 2067.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON), which lost 3.32% or 5.70 points to trade at 165.95 in late trade. Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq) declined 2.95% or 0.040 points to end at 1.316 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) shed 2.73% or 40.00 points to 1427.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1131 to 783 and 463 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.16% or 2.85 to $1793.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.78% or 0.53 to hit $67.83 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.74% or 0.53 to trade at $70.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.35% to 1.3711, while EUR/GBP rose 0.30% to 0.8578.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 93.013.
