Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 3.89% or 96.00 points to trade at 2563.00 at the close. Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL) added 2.60% or 62.0 points to end at 2446.3 and CRH PLC (LON:CRH) was up 2.25% or 69.0 points to 3130.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND), which lost 5.66% or 40.20 points to trade at 669.50 in late trade. British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) declined 4.29% or 21.50 points to end at 479.10 and Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) shed 4.07% or 0.64 points to 14.98.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1251 to 990 and 79 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.03% or 0.65 to $1889.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.26% or 0.61 to hit $48.97 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.99% or 0.51 to trade at $52.01 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.73% to 1.3483, while EUR/GBP rose 0.46% to 0.9070.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.33% at 90.037.
