Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Media and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS), which rose 2.63% or 6.10 points to trade at 238.30 at the close. ITV PLC (LON:ITV) added 1.74% or 2.35 points to end at 137.40 and Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) was up 1.53% or 12.60 points to 835.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included InterContinental Hotels Group PLC (LON:IHG), which lost 4.58% or 217.00 points to trade at 4520.00 in late trade. Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO) declined 4.28% or 48.60 points to end at 1087.60 and Relx PLC (LON:REL) shed 2.55% or 45.50 points to 1739.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1166 to 920 and 213 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.25% or 3.75 to $1494.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.70% or 0.38 to hit $53.55 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.20% or 0.72 to trade at $59.19 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.50% to 1.2953, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8616.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 97.028.
