Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Tobacco, Oil & Gas Producers and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN), which rose 2.58% or 76.0 points to trade at 3021.0 at the close. Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) added 2.24% or 124.0 points to end at 5654.0 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) was up 1.96% or 15.00 points to 779.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 4.65% or 17.60 points to trade at 361.00 in late trade. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 4.59% or 91.5 points to end at 1902.0 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) shed 3.83% or 64.50 points to 1621.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1503 to 764 and 192 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.45% or 7.80 to $1725.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 4.64% or 2.84 to hit $58.34 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.04 to trade at $61.71 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.01% to 1.3734, while EUR/GBP rose 0.04% to 0.8568.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 92.915.
