Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas Producers and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq), which rose 2.80% or 0.036 points to trade at 1.320 at the close. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) added 2.52% or 36.50 points to end at 1484.00 and ITV PLC (LON:ITV) was up 2.38% or 2.95 points to 126.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which lost 5.92% or 10.00 points to trade at 159.05 in late trade. Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) declined 4.60% or 81.50 points to end at 1690.50 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) shed 4.42% or 150.5 points to 3250.5.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1314 to 724 and 174 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.13% or 2.45 to $1825.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 3.25% or 2.15 to hit $63.93 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.94% or 2.04 to trade at $67.28 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.11% to 1.4036, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.8605.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 90.735.
