Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Software & Computer Services and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 1.41% or 124.00 points to trade at 8924.00 at the close. Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB) added 1.16% or 19.80 points to end at 1723.00 and Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA) was up 1.14% or 6.40 points to 568.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 7.40% or 98.00 points to trade at 1227.00 in late trade. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 4.71% or 99.00 points to end at 2005.00 and Segro Plc (LON:SGRO) shed 3.47% or 31.00 points to 863.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1467 to 677 and 209 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.23% or 3.45 to $1469.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.29% or 0.71 to hit $55.88 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.86% or 0.52 to trade at $61.01 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.04% to 1.2938, while EUR/GBP rose 0.42% to 0.8558.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 97.860.
