Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Gas, Water & Multiutilities, Automobiles & Parts and Electrical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Endeavour Mining PLC (LON:EDV), which rose 2.28% or 38.00 points to trade at 1,707.00 at the close. Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) added 1.15% or 180.00 points to end at 15,895.00 and BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) was up 0.99% or 13.00 points to 1,326.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 8.99% or 37.50 points to trade at 379.70 in late trade. St. James's Place PLC (LON:SJP) declined 4.28% or 19.20 points to end at 429.40 and JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) shed 4.03% or 5.30 points to 126.25.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1199 to 551 and 685 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.69% or 38.90 to $2,347.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.98% or 0.85 to hit $87.44 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.13% or 1.02 to trade at $91.67 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 104.00.
