Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Real Estate and General Retailers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.93%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 5.14% or 426.00 points to trade at 8,716.00 at the close. Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) added 3.69% or 82.00 points to end at 2,307.00 and Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK) was up 1.52% or 76.00 points to 5,078.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Avast PLC (LON:AVST), which lost 4.36% or 23.20 points to trade at 508.40 in late trade. Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) declined 3.91% or 59.50 points to end at 1,464.00 and London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG) shed 3.85% or 300.00 points to 7,492.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1255 to 628 and 444 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.14% or 2.65 to $1,867.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 5.16% or 5.28 to hit $107.69 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 4.72% or 4.95 to trade at $109.92 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.04% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.29% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 103.38.
