Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mining, Industrial Engineering and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 4.34% or 35.60 points to trade at 855.40 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 2.93% or 44.00 points to end at 1,546.50 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) was up 1.98% or 3.60 points to 185.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which lost 5.83% or 72.50 points to trade at 1,171.50 in late trade. British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) declined 5.52% or 27.90 points to end at 477.50 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shed 4.95% or 4.26 points to 81.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1329 to 526 and 426 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.43% or 7.85 to $1,830.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.52% or 1.61 to hit $104.58 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.29% or 1.44 to trade at $110.30 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 1.22, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.16% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 104.21.
