Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mining, Financial Services and Travel & Leisure sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.70% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which rose 1.03% or 0.78 points to trade at 76.52 at the close. Avast PLC (LON:AVST) added 0.88% or 6.20 points to end at 713.20 and SSE PLC (LON:SSE) was up 0.73% or 12.00 points to 1,664.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB), which lost 8.75% or 206.50 points to trade at 2,153.00 in late trade. Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) declined 7.50% or 102.50 points to end at 1,264.50 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shed 7.39% or 5.69 points to 71.31.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1586 to 286 and 426 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.05% or 18.05 to $1,708.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.56% or 3.19 to hit $86.36 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 3.63% or 3.47 to trade at $92.17 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.71% to 1.15, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.40% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.94% at 109.68.
