Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were IHI Corp. (T:7013), which rose 5.13% or 111.0 points to trade at 2273.0 at the close. Aeon Co., Ltd. (T:8267) added 4.79% or 156.0 points to end at 3412.0 and Advantest Corp. (T:6857) was up 4.65% or 410.0 points to 9230.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:7762), which lost 1.76% or 7.0 points to trade at 391.0 in late trade. Showa Denko K.K. (T:4004) declined 1.71% or 55.0 points to end at 3160.0 and Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301) shed 1.52% or 27.0 points to 1745.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2903 to 692 and 170 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 25.65.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 2.07% or 1.21 to $59.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 1.74% or 1.08 to hit $63.03 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.06% or 1.05 to trade at $1726.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.07% to 109.25, while EUR/JPY rose 0.21% to 128.71.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 92.793.
