Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Services, Telecoms and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 0.05%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were National Central Cooling Co. (DU:TABR), which rose 1.65% or 0.030 points to trade at 1.850 at the close. Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR) added 0.86% or 0.060 points to end at 7.030 and SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) was up 0.84% or 0.010 points to 1.200 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which lost 6.00% or 0.120 points to trade at 1.880 in late trade. Commercial Bank of Dubai P.S.C. (DU:CBD) declined 2.38% or 0.100 points to end at 4.100 and Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV) shed 2.22% or 0.030 points to 1.320.
The top performers on the ADX General were Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which rose 3.26% to 0.9500, Rak Ceramics (AD:RKCE) which was up 3.17% to settle at 2.600 and Emirates Telec (AD:ETEL) which gained 1.46% to close at 17.35.
The worst performers were National Takaful Co PJSC (AD:WATA) which was down 10.00% to 0.45 in late trade, Gulf Pharm Ind (AD:GPHI) which lost 7.86% to settle at 2.110 and Emirates Ins C (AD:EIC) which was down 7.69% to 6.00 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 19 to 15 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 18 fell and 5 advanced, while 7 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.45% or 0.26 to $57.59 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.30% or 0.19 to hit $63.42 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.31% or 3.90 to trade at $1261.40 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED rose 0.36% to 4.3326.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 93.27.
