Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Transport, Consumer Staples and Real Estate & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 0.80%, while the ADX General index gained 0.53%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC (DU:GNAV), which rose 3.68% or 0.032 points to trade at 0.901 at the close. Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) added 3.29% or 0.020 points to end at 0.627 and ARAMEX PJSC (DU:ARMX) was up 2.50% or 0.100 points to 4.100 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Emaar Development PJSC (DU:EMAARDEV), which lost 1.54% or 0.080 points to trade at 5.120 in late trade. Amlak Finance PJSC (DU:AMLK) declined 0.96% or 0.007 points to end at 0.722 and Deyaar Development PJSC (DU:DEYR) shed 0.95% or 0.004 points to 0.419.

The top performers on the ADX General were Al Khaleej Investment Co PJSC (AD:KICO) which rose 15.00% to 2.30, Sharjah Group Co (AD:SG) which was up 14.78% to settle at 1.32 and Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which gained 4.55% to close at 1.150.

The worst performers were Commercial Bank International (AD:CBI) which was down 10.00% to 0.810 in late trade, Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which lost 4.76% to settle at 2.400 and Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which was down 2.04% to 0.9600 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 22 to 9 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 rose and 5 declined, while 9 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.45% or 0.33 to $73.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.42% or 0.33 to hit $78.09 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.20% or 2.50 to trade at $1256.00 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED fell 0.17% to 4.2752.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 94.43.
