Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Real Estate & Construction, Banking and Telecoms sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 2.57%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.92%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Emaar Malls Group (DU:EMAA), which rose 7.04% or 0.19 points to trade at 2.89 at the close. Emaar Properties PJSC (DU:EMAR) added 5.38% or 0.320 points to end at 6.270 and Commercial Bank of Dubai P.S.C. (DU:CBD) was up 5.26% or 0.300 points to 6.000 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Takaful House (DU:DTKF), which lost 7.22% or 0.039 points to trade at 0.501 in late trade. Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) declined 2.63% or 0.017 points to end at 0.630 and AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) shed 2.38% or 0.050 points to 2.050.
The top performers on the ADX General were Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which rose 4.00% to 0.520, First Gulf Bk (AD:FGB) which was up 3.03% to settle at 11.90 and Methaq (AD:METH) which gained 2.25% to close at 0.910.
The worst performers were Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which was unchanged 0.00% to 0.7500 in late trade, Finance House (AD:FH) which unchanged 0.00% to settle at 1.91 and Emirates Ins C (AD:EIC) which was unchanged 0.00% to 6.72 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 23 to 4 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 7 rose and 1 declined, while 5 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.72% or 0.66 to $39.12 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 1.49% or 0.60 to hit $40.93 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 3.33% or 40.90 to trade at $1270.70 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.82% to 4.1578.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.85% at 94.89.
