Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were mixed after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Consumer Staples, Transport and Banking sectors led shares higher while losses in the Telecoms, Real Estate & Construction and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General added 0.78%, while the ADX General index fell 1.23%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 14.86% or 0.078 points to trade at 0.603 at the close. Meanwhile, AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) added 8.82% or 0.150 points to end at 1.850 and Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) was up 6.17% or 0.037 points to 0.637 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were National Cement Company P.S.C. (DU:NCC), which fell 5.14% or 0.180 points to trade at 3.320 at the close. Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) declined 2.67% or 0.012 points to end at 0.438 and Emaar Malls Group (DU:EMAA) was down 2.29% or 0.07 points to 2.99.
The top performers on the ADX General were Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which rose 9.47% to 1.04, Natl Co Bldg M (AD:BILD) which was up 3.92% to settle at 0.530 and Commercial Bank International (AD:CBI) which gained 3.33% to close at 1.55.
The worst performers were Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which was down 9.00% to 0.91 in late trade, Agthia Group (AD:AGTH) which lost 7.13% to settle at 8.21 and Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) which was down 3.51% to 9.35 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 18 to 9 and 1 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 13 fell and 12 advanced.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.34% or 0.16 to $46.99 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 1.74% or 0.86 to hit $48.88 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.15% or 1.70 to trade at $1117.30 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED rose 0.24% to 4.1578.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 95.39.
