Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Basic Resources and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite lost 4.03% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Flexopack SA (AT:FLXr), which rose 5.04% or 0.1200 points to trade at 2.5000 at the close. Autohellas (AT:AUTr) added 2.50% or 0.28 points to end at 11.48 and Techn Olympic (AT:OLYr) was up 2.29% or 0.015 points to 0.670 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which lost 13.13% or 0.026 points to trade at 0.172 in late trade. National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) declined 13.04% or 0.03 points to end at 0.20 and Viohalco SA (AT:VIOH) shed 9.70% or 0.130 points to 1.210.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 75 to 26 and 9 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 1.94% or 24.95 to $1313.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 3.48% or 1.67 to hit $46.34 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 3.21% or 1.57 to trade at $47.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.02% to 1.1145, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.7923.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.82% at 95.45.
