Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Oil & Gas and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Unilever NV (AS:UNc), which rose 1.76% or 0.69 points to trade at 40.16 at the close. Philips Kon (AS:PHG) added 1.65% or 0.38 points to end at 23.14 and ASML Holding (AS:ASML) was up 1.58% or 1.36 points to 87.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 4.20% or 0.200 points to trade at 4.560 in late trade. KPN Kon (AS:KPN) declined 2.27% or 0.076 points to end at 3.271 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 1.28% or 0.600 points to 46.400.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 101 to 64 and 17 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.11% to 30.76.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.52% or 0.76 to $49.20 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.50% or 0.76 to hit $49.89 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.64% or 21.20 to trade at $1270.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.1249, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.7674.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 94.10.
