The fund invests directly and through derivatives in government debt securities targeting a duration of over ten years. It uses derivatives such as options to create its portfolio. The fund seeks to benchmark the performance of its portfolio against a composite index comprising of 20% the Bloomberg Canada Treasury Bills 1-3 Months, 50% the FTSE TMX Canada Long Term Federal Bond Index, 15% the ICE U.S. Treasury 20 Year Bond Index, 15% the Cboe TLT and 2% the OTM BuyWrite Index.
