Purpose Global Resource Fund is an open ended balanced mutual fund launched and managed by Redwood Asset Management Inc. It invests in the public equity and fixed income markets of North America. The fund seeks to invest in securities of companies operating in the resource sector, including companies engaged in oil and gas or mining exploration, other forms of energy production or development, forestry industries, energy product or related resource businesses such as pipeline or services companies, and utilities. It primarily invests in dividend paying value stocks of companies, convertible bonds, and corporate bonds. The fund invests in stocks of companies across diversified market capitalizations. It employs long and short strategy to create its portfolio. The fund employs fundamental analysis with a focus on such factors as growing revenues and earnings, strong balance sheets, solid management, capital structure, and business franchises to create its portfolio. It benchmarks the performance of its portfolio against a composite index comprised of 25% S&P/TSX Diversified Materials Index, 25% S&P/TSX Paper & Forest Products Index, 25% S&P/TSX Capped Gold Index, and 25% S&P/TSX Diversified Energy Index. The fund conducts in-house research to make its investments. It was formerly known as Redwood Resource Growth & Income Fund. Purpose Global Resource Fund was formed on April 11, 2006 and is domiciled in Canada.
