Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electronic Parts/Components, Semiconductor and Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Teapo Electronic Corp (TW:2375), which rose 9.92% or 2.45 points to trade at 27.15 at the close. Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) added 9.79% or 1.90 points to end at 21.30 and Yageo Corp (TW:2327) was up 9.66% or 10.00 points to 113.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AOPEN Inc (TW:3046), which lost 9.96% or 0.48 points to trade at 4.34 in late trade. CoAdna Holdings Inc (TW:4984) declined 6.24% or 2.95 points to end at 44.30 and Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429) shed 5.28% or 0.80 points to 14.35.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 394 to 363 and 118 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.68% or 0.31 to $46.03 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.83% or 0.40 to hit $48.46 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.24% or 3.07 to trade at $1290.13 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.05% to 30.102, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2265.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 96.64.
