Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking, Insurance and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which rose 9.79% or 0.19 points to trade at 2.13 at the close. Meanwhile, Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) added 4.99% or 5.49 points to end at 115.50 and Fbn Holdings (LAGOS:FBNH) was up 4.78% or 0.25 points to 5.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which fell 9.56% or 2.21 points to trade at 20.99 at the close. Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) declined 4.44% or 0.040 points to end at 0.900 and Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB) was down 0.94% or 0.02 points to 2.07.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 34 to 21 and 43 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 8.50% or 3.28 to $41.88 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 7.64% or 3.29 to hit $46.44 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.19% or 2.10 to trade at $1122.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 1.08% to 224.880, while USD/NGN rose 0.12% to 199.265.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.65% at 95.92.
