Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the General Retailers, Personal Goods and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.67%, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.43%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Kering SA (PARIS:PRTP), which rose 5.61% or 8.05 points to trade at 151.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Technip (PARIS:TECF) added 3.86% or 1.69 points to end at 45.48 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (PARIS:LVMH) was up 3.77% or 5.65 points to 155.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alstom SA (PARIS:ALSO), which rose 0.14% or 0.04 points to trade at 28.50 at the close. Peugeot SA (PARIS:PEUP) added 0.16% or 0.03 points to end at 15.75 and AXA SA (PARIS:AXAF) was up 0.22% or 0.05 points to 22.45.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Kering SA (PARIS:PRTP) which rose 5.61% to 151.65, Remy Cointreau (PARIS:RCOP) which was up 5.24% to settle at 53.60 and Ubisoft Entertainment (PARIS:UBIP) which gained 4.96% to close at 17.050.
The worst performers were Zodiac Aerospace (PARIS:ZODC) which was down 18.81% to 22.84 in late trade, Eramet (PARIS:ERMT) which lost 5.89% to settle at 36.35 and Virbac (PARIS:VIRB) which was down 5.38% to 178.35 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 440 to 285 and 55 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eramet (PARIS:ERMT) fell to 5-year lows; down 5.89% or 2.27 to 36.35.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 7.28% to 26.32.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.85% or 20.40 to $1123.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 5.83% or 2.60 to hit $47.19 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 4.26% or 2.04 to trade at $49.78 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.40% to 1.1316, while EUR/GBP fell 0.52% to 0.7304.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 95.33.
