Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the IT, Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 added 1.17%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index added 1.14%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (NS:REDY), which rose 4.83% or 142.90 points to trade at 3103.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindalco Industries Ltd. (NS:HALC) added 4.71% or 3.10 points to end at 68.90 and Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (NS:ONGC) was up 4.37% or 8.75 points to 209.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS:MRTI), which fell 2.56% or 95.90 points to trade at 3653.25 at the close. Asian Paints Ltd. (NS:ASPN) declined 2.42% or 20.75 points to end at 835.25 and Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (NS:BHEL) was down 1.94% or 2.05 points to 103.70.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (BO:REDY) which rose 4.52% to 3094.95, Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (BO:ONGC) which was up 4.50% to settle at 208.85 and Hindalco Industries Ltd. (BO:HALC) which gained 4.47% to close at 68.90.
The worst performers were Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was down 2.53% to 3654.90 in late trade, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BO:BHEL) which lost 1.84% to settle at 103.80 and AXIS Bank Ltd. (BO:AXBK) which was down 1.39% to 397.95 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 823 to 557 and 69 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 473 rose and 310 declined, while 31 ended unchanged.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 1.59% to 21.4850.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.49% or 5.90 to $1205.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.69% or 0.82 to hit $31.48 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.23% or 0.77 to trade at $35.27 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.26% to 68.490, while EUR/INR rose 0.23% to 76.2020.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 96.83.
