Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Consumer Services and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 2.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which rose 9.19% or 0.783 points to trade at 9.301 at the close. Int.Airl.Grp (MC:ICAG) added 5.89% or 0.393 points to end at 7.069 and Telefonica (MC:TEF) was up 5.10% or 0.457 points to 9.424 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA), which lost 4.50% or 0.213 points to trade at 4.520 in late trade. Sacyr (MC:SCYR) declined 2.44% or 0.035 points to end at 1.400 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) shed 1.19% or 0.115 points to 9.516.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 159 to 41 and 24 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was up 0.14% or 1.70 to $1240.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.90% or 0.61 to hit $31.54 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.34% or 0.46 to trade at $33.95 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1024, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.7906.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 97.45.
