Investing.com – France equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrials, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.52%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP), which rose 3.05% or 2.41 points to trade at 81.49 at the close. Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA) added 0.92% or 0.043 points to end at 4.724 and Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) was up 0.91% or 0.50 points to 55.38 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN), which lost 4.17% or 2.87 points to trade at 66.00 in late trade. Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) declined 2.19% or 1.32 points to end at 59.00 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) shed 1.74% or 1.15 points to 64.90.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which rose 12.60% to 6.182, Television Francaise 1 SA (PA:TFFP) which was up 5.79% to settle at 10.600 and Cap Gemini SA (PA:CAPP) which gained 3.05% to close at 81.49.
The worst performers were Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) which was down 4.17% to 66.00 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 2.56% to settle at 6.775 and Nexans (PA:NEXS) which was down 2.21% to 50.85 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 349 to 263 and 92 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 5.15% to 14.98.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.51% or 6.35 to $1239.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.17% or 0.09 to hit $53.20 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.23% or 0.13 to trade at $55.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.54% to 1.0656, while EUR/GBP rose 0.49% to 0.8548.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.47% at 100.60.
