Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Metal Products & Machinery, Sports and Holdings & Investments sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 declined 1.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Alkim Kimya (IS:ALKIM), which rose 2.91% or 0.39 points to trade at 13.77 at the close. Saf Gmyo (IS:SAFGY) added 2.63% or 0.020 points to end at 0.780 and Cimsa (IS:CIMSA) was up 2.01% or 0.33 points to 16.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ford Otosan (IS:FROTO), which lost 7.23% or 2.82 points to trade at 36.20 in late trade. Tumosan Motor Ve Traktor (IS:TMSN) declined 5.49% or 0.500 points to end at 8.600 and Tofas Oto. Fab. (IS:TOASO) shed 5.41% or 1.24 points to 21.66.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 225 to 96 and 88 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for April delivery was down 1.96% or 24.50 to $1224.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 3.23% or 1.34 to hit $40.11 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 2.54% or 1.06 to trade at $40.73 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 0.36% to 2.8777, while EUR/TRY rose 0.09% to 3.2196.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.52% at 96.17.
