Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Public Utilities and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Lojas Americanas SA (SA:LAME4), which rose 4.64% or 0.89 points to trade at 20.09 at the close. Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) added 3.94% or 1.25 points to end at 33.01 and Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4) was up 3.78% or 1.93 points to 53.02 in late trade.
Biggest losers included BR Malls Participacoes SA (SA:BRML3), which lost 5.35% or 0.74 points to trade at 13.09 in late trade. Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) declined 4.62% or 0.85 points to end at 17.56 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) shed 3.36% or 0.71 points to 20.43.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 168 to 151 and 16 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.22% to 31.82.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.53% or 7.10 to $1342.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.85% or 1.24 to hit $44.73 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.83% or 1.15 to trade at $136.85 .
USD/BRL was up 1.50% to 3.1912, while EUR/BRL rose 1.69% to 3.5626.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 95.69.
